Myron Tassoul Obituary

Tassoul, Myron J. "Mike"

Myron James "Mike" Tassoul was called to heaven with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Mike was born July 8, 1937 in Algoma, WI, son of the late John B. and Ida (Tombal) Tassoul.

Mike began his grocer career in 1955 with the local Red Owl store. He managed Red Owl stores throughout the country for the next several years, and in 1971 he moved on to open his first store, Mike's Towne and Country in Appleton where he met and married Gaye A. (Selig) Tassoul on March 20, 1979. Together they expanded their business to six stores throughout the Fox Valley and Clintonville. He retired in 1992 to spend more time with his family, but never really quit working. He spent the remainder of his life investing in various real estate opportunities.

Mike was a member of St. Bernard Parish for 30 years, and was very active in his local community. He was a member of the Appleton Noon Lion's Club for 45 years during which he climbed the ladder to President. Mike also sponsored Ducks Unlimited and The Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation, and was heavily involved in Goodwill Industries.

His hobbies included travel, hunting, annual fishing trips to Canada, golfing, and spending his winters in Naples, FL. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan, loved the outdoors, boating, yard work, and shopping at Menard's.

Mike will be missed by his wife, Gaye and his seven children: Kathleen (Mark) Kinderman, Oshkosh, WI; Michael (Kathy) Tassoul, Queens Creek, AZ; Patrick Tassoul, Menasha, WI; Michelle (Ryan) Roth, Chandler, AZ; Shane (Shane) Tassoul, Appleton, WI; Shannon (Robbie) Dilworth, Naples, FL; Shawna (Craig) Reichelt, Neenah, WI. He also enjoyed spending time with his eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at St. Bernard Parish, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton with the Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Valley Funeral Home, Appleton, and again, from 10:00 a.m. -10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

The family would like to give a special thanks and recognition to all the staff at Prairie Home Assisted Living, Menasha, for the special care and attention they all gave to Mike. Your kindness and love will be remembered in our hearts forever.

Gaye and family,
I have had many fond memories since Mike has gone to our heavenly home. Mike was a great boss and it was an honor that he 'trusted me with his money'. I loved working at several of the Mike's Towne & Country stores.

Some of the best memories where all of the family adventures: Family trip (12 of us and 2 vehicles) to Disney & The Worlds Fair, water skiing, snowmobiling and mini bikes and the teal blue furniture at your cottage, babysitting while you went to Packer games, Lion's
Club events (Oktoberfest and Corn Roast picnic), and the great friendship you and Mike have with my parents.

May God comfort you until we can all join him in our heavenly home.

Love and friends always,
Marsha

I have been thinking of all the wonderful times we had together and all the fishing and hunting that Mike and Ebie did over the years. Many fond memories. Always enjoyed going to the Packer games in Milwaukee. Good think Mike knew his way around there or we would have always been lost. Also enjoyed the many casino trips we made. Knowing both Ebie and Mike are now without pain and discomfort is a blessing.

As I lay here and think about what has just happened ,I feel a sense of calmness in knowing that my husband and best friend is now at peace and pain free in a better place with Jesus ! It does make it a little easier, but does not take away the loneliness that I feel inside - I will be forever grateful for the beautiful life we've had and love we've shared !! Your heart will go on and our love will remain forever in my heart -/ Love you sweetheart -- forever and always

Gaye and Family,

You are in our thoughts and prayers. Mike was instrumental in forging my career path in the grocery business. He gave me a chance many years ago and during the 10 years I worked In the stores, I was able to learn so much that I still apply today. I never got the chance to thank him. Thanks Mike! Lots of good memories.
