Rebecca Thelen Obituary
Rebecca R. Thelen, 56, Green Bay, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 15, 1960 in Green Bay to Thomas and Sharon (Bunker) Thelen.
Becky graduated from Ashwaubenon High School in 1978. She acquired her love of nursing while employed as a nurse's aide at Woodside Lutheran Homes. Becky enrolled in the NWTC Nursing program and graduated with highest honors in 1983. Becky was a skilled and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse for HCR ManorCare West Rehabilitation Center for 32 years. She always strived to gain more knowledge to be the best nurse for her patients. Due to illness, Becky retired in 2015.
Becky loved to read and watching the Golden Girls and Hallmark Christmas movies all year long. She also enjoyed going up North and fishing.
Becky will be sadly missed by her two children, Michele Costello (special friend, Erin); Floyd Costello; grandson, Jeremiah Bertram; parents, Tom and Sherri Thelen; grandmother, Monica LeFave; siblings, Cal (Tisa) Thelen; Shelley Thelen; nieces and nephews, Roxanne (Bob), Tom, Alec (Melissa), Mike (special friend, Natassja); two great-nephews, a great niece; as well as many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Thelen; grandparents, Rose Mary and Alex Bunker; Ruth and Floyd Thelen; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday July 20, 2016. A Parish Wake Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday July 21, 2016. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev. John H. Harper officiating. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com
A memorial fund will be established to UW Carbone Cancer Center, 600 Highland Ave. K4/646, Madison, WI 53792-6164.
Becky's family extends their gratitude to Unity Hospice and to the wonderful staff of ManorCare West for the excellent and compassionate care that was given to Becky.

I worked with Becky at Manor Care. If all healthcare workers had her love and compassion for their patients and residents the medical field would be such a better place for all. I hope everyone who worked with you knows how lucky they are to have met you and your residents to have been blessed to have you care for them. God bless you Becky!
