Richard Giese Obituary

Giese, Richard "Dick"

Richard "Dick" Giese, 82, Green Bay went to Heaven on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Bornemann Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Richard was born in Green Bay, the son of the late Albert and Agnes (DeGroot) Giese. On February 27, 1954 he married the "girl next door" Mary Jane Maloney at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. They were married 61 years and had 6 children together. He served his country in the Unites States Army and was stationed in Germany for 2 years until his honorable discharge in 1956. Dick was employed at Northern Paper Mill for over 33 years until his retirement in 1984.

Richard greatly enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, at the cabin he built at Bond Falls, Michigan. He was gifted at wood working and could fix or improve on anything. His family will cherish the memories of the wonderful times spend together at Bond Falls.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Mary Jane, children Susan (Wayne) Kaczrowski, Sandra (Brian) Motkowski, Michael Giese, Thomas (Gena) Giese, Barbara Giese, David (Stacey) Giese, 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 sister June Mommaerts, 3 brothers Ken (Lois) Giese, Jerry (Dona) Giese, Dan (Jane) Giese. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother Clayton, his brother Ervin and sister-in-law Betty, and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Maloney.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Philip Catholic Church 312 Victoria Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Mark Vandersteeg officiating.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Bornemann Nursing Home for the wonderful care and kindnesses extended to Richard and his family during the past six years and to Sister Helen of St. Philip's Parish.

I am so sorry to hear of Dick's passing, but know he is now at peace.
Mary Jane, I am thankful you and Dick had over 60 years together.
As a 1st cousin I have fond memories of going to play cards at Al and Agnes's house and also occasional trips up to the cabin.
My Dad Paul was Al's brother.
We will not be able to attend the funeral, but you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless.
