Thomas Smoot Obituary
Thomas "Tom" K. Smoot, 60, Green Bay, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 21, 2015. He was born on April 19, 1955, in Cook County, IL to Robert and Ione Elaine (Burke) Smoot. He grew up and attended school in Hickory. Tom served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam on the U.S.S. Ranger, celebrating his 18th birthday in Haiphong Harbor.
Tom was a very resourceful man who enjoyed working in the garage and helping those he liked with their vehicles. He had an abundance of knowledge and was always willing to share it with a "free speech". Family was important to "Loud Grandpa Tom" and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by Kathy Martin ("Ma"); their children: Jonathan (Alicia), Oxford, GA; Ryan (Carrie), Jillian (Jason) and Rebecca (Phillip), all of Green Bay; eleven grandchildren, Jason, Jackson (aka "Buddy Lee"), Megan, Brooklyn, Kasen, Christian, Lincoln, Amelia, Lila, Cash, Charlotte; two brothers and a sister, Roger, Robert Jr. (aka "L.B."), and Lorie; and was loved by many friends, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Ione Elaine; and Carol Ann.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 10 to 12 noon Saturday. The Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

Merry Christmas Tom, the family misses you--it's hard for us to know you won't be walking through the door, coffee in hand. Hope all is well with you, can't help but think that you're feeling much better these days! Keep an eye on the kids, would ya?

I didn't know Tom too in depth-wish I would have-he was friends of an old boyfriend of mine. I thought of Smoot through out the years as he left somewhat of an impression on me. Sounds silly, but what I always think of is one time he was getting a drink of water from the tap and said,"one good thing about winter, the water is nice & cold". It made me think he was an optimist. So sorry for your loss.
