Tim Vanden Plas Obituary

Vanden Plas, Tim

Tim Vanden Plas, 50, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly September 3, 2012. Born on December 23, 1961, in Green Bay, he is the son of Harry and Bonnie (DeBaker) Vanden plas. Tim married the former Julene Wilde on June 21, 1986, at the First United Church of Christ. He enjoyed working with his amateur radios and computers. Tim was a jack of all trades. He recently attended NWTC and achieved his GED certificate in his pursuit of becoming an IT technician. Never the less his finest enjoyment was his role in raising his first granddaughter and looking forward to the arrival of his next granddaughter, Payson. Tim would give the shirt off of his back for anyone sparing no expense to help. He spent countless hours in the neighborhood mowing lawns, snow blowing, cleaning gutters, and doing whatever necessary to help neighbors.

Tim is survived by his parents; best friend and wife of 26 years, Julene Vanden Plas; three children, Matthew (Brittany), Samantha and special friend Jake, and Amanda (Nathan) all of Green Bay; one grandchild, Scarlitt; five brothers and one sister, Paul (Jill), Mark (Debbie), Randy (Dixie), Penny, Kelly (Sue), and Terry (Kelly) Vanden Plas; brother-in-law Kevin (Paula) Wilde; significant family friend, Andrea Volrath; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Patricia Wilde; many other relatives.

Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Ave at Baird St., Friday from 4 PM until 7 PM. Visitation will continue Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Laubenstein officiating.

To the VandenPlas Family.
Paul was like a boy scout when we were cub scouts. I hung with Mark and Randy mostly. My brother Tom was Tim's age. I remember watching Terry who was the little tough guy. We were all a part of the no name, no uniform Beaumont park brat's make-up football team. Tim will forever be remembered in my childhood as one of the Kenwood Vandenplas'. Rest in peace Tim, I am grieving your passing alongside your family. On behalf of the Clover clan, May our prayers be with yours, Chucky

Tim, I know we never got the chance to get to know each other on a real personal level, but the time I was fortunate enough to be in your presence, you taught me what it really meant to be completely selfless. You are one of the most humble men I have ever met and I will never forget you. Thank you for everything. My heart goes out to the Vanden Plas family and I am doing anything and everything I can do to help and to support. Give 'em hell up there!

We are just heartbroken for you all and have no words to properly express our sadness. You are so right to have listed among Tim's accomplishments his tremendous generosity to friends and neighbors; we have long-referred to him here in our house as "Saint Tim" for all the many times he has helped us with shoveling and snow blowing - and doing so with such complete humility that he didn't even want to be noticed. He truly had a heart of gold.

As I told Samantha the other day, please do not hesitate to ask us for help if there's anything we can do for you. In the meantime, we are praying fervently for you all to have God's peace even though it's impossible on a human level to understand such a tragedy.
