XENIA — Goldie V. Palmer, age 97, of Xenia, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Greene Oaks with her family at her side, just two months shy of her 98th birthday. She was born in Xenia, Ohio on October 24, 1919. Goldie was the last surviving sibling of the 13 children born to Clarence and Stella (Davis) Toner. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Charles A. Palmer, Sr.; two daughters: Carol May Woods and Judith A. Hartsock; a grandson; as well as 12 siblings. She loved gardening, music and singing, and drew pictures in her artist sketchpad until the last few weeks of her life. She also wrote down her memories throughout the years, as well as composing poems and song lyrics. She was a treasure and will be dearly missed. And yes, Mom, as you wrote in your original composition many years ago, There's a garden where Jesus is waiting. She is survived by her children: Beverly A. Krouskop; Charles A. Palmer, Jr.; Gary A. Palmer; David L. Palmer; Debby K. Kyne and Danny K. Palmer; 25 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, August 17, 2017 at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Steve Thornhill officiating. She will be interred at Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. Friends may call Thursday from 11 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Goldie was my mother-in-law for many years but more important she was a second mother to me. She never had a harsh word for or about anyone. She helped me through many a tough night. If I could only be half the woman she was.....
