XENIA — James "Jim" A. Anders, 79, of Chillicothe, Ohio, and formerly of Xenia, Ohio passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was born June 27, 1944, in Xenia, Ohio. He was the son of Abe and Mary Jenks Anders. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ann Hawker Anders, whom he married June 12, 1965, and daughters, Joell (Philip) Mangan, of Beavercreek and Jodi Ferguson (Todd Stewart) of Jamestown. He had five grandchildren, Rilie (Carl) McKaig, Mallori (Justin) Hinkle, Caitlin Ferguson, Trevor Mangan, and Colin (Claire) Mangan, and six great-grandchildren; Remi, Gemma, Sawyer, JJ, Colbie, Wesley, and Boone. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Jack (Irene) Anders, nieces, nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jerry Anders as well as a nephew Mike Anders and a nephew Tyler Anders. He moved to Chillicothe, Ohio in 2010 after fulfilling his lifelong dream to build a log home with logs he harvested from his own property. There, he worked as a Township Trustee for Eagle Township. Jim served his country during the Vietnam War and worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 22 years. Jim loved his family above all and could be counted on to bring a kind and gentle word to anyone he encountered. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family has planned a Celebration of Life for August 27, 2023, from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm at the Stonehill Village Barn 1300 Shorthill Dr., Xenia, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, or to Easter Seals, in his memory.
