Jennie Keiter Obituary

XENIA — Jennie Lee Hewitt Leston Keiter, cherished daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, passed away in Xenia, Ohio on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was born January 11, 1931 in West Virginia, grew up in Fairmont, West Virginia, was wed and moved to Xenia, Ohio to raise 5 boys. She worked and received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Central State University. She worked as an educator for Xenia City Schools and in 1980 received her Masters degree from the University of Dayton, becoming a grade school counselor. On May 24, 1979, she married the love of her life, George J. Keiter and they remained together until his death in February 2021. Jennie was an educator for many years in the Xenia City Schools. Her students were all her "kids" as she would say. Jennie is survived by her brother: Thomas Hewitt; 4 sons: David A., Phillip M., Bruce E. and Thomas M. Leston; step-daughter: Sherilyn Sue and step son: Ronald Edward; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter, at last count. She was preceded in death by her son: Richard F. Leston and brother: Mark Hewitt. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and nurtured, a lasting legacy of compassion and strength. Funeral service will be held 12 noon Monday, October 20th at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will begin at 11AM Monday until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be buried next to George at the McKay Keiter Cemetery in Clinton County. Online expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com.
