XENIA — Marguerite I. "Peg" Steele, 87, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at her residence. She was born September 19, 1934, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of James and Beatrice Mundhenk McGrody. She was a member of St. Brigid Church, was a past president of American Legion Post Auxiliary, 3rd District, member of Xenia American Legion Post, #95 Auxiliary, and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Robert B. "Bob" Steele, whom she married, April 15, 1972, a son, Gary (Jean) Phillips, Riverside, a daughter-in-law, Donna Phillips, Xenia, two step-sons, Robert (Sandra) Steele, Bonita Springs, FL, and John (Sandra) Steele, Wilmington, 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a sister, Joyce (Herbert) Tomoshot, Dayton, a sister-in-law, Ann Nill, Kettering, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Steele, Jamestown, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-father, Phillip Busby, and by a son, Terry Phillips. Peg will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Wednesday, May 11, at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia, with Fr. John Madanu officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Tuesday at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Miami Valley, 46 N. Detroit St., Suite B, Xenia, OH, 45385, in her memory.
