XENIA — Richard Glenn Denny, age 67, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born August 20, 1947 in Dayton, the son of James G. and Mary Winifred Spalding Denny. He was preceded in death by his father: James G. Denny. He is survived by his mother, Mary "Winnie" Denny of Xenia; daughter: Tamara Hicks of Xenia; siblings: Saundra Ericsson of AZ; Susan Earley of TX; Rita (Bradley) Smith, Jamie (David) Mowery, Jacqueline (Ken) Day and Lee (Lynn) Denny, all of Xenia; grandchildren: Austin, Alexandria and Ava; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Richard was a 1966 graduate of Xenia High School. In July 1966, he enlisted in the US Marines, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was retired from the Coca-Cola Corp., Past commander of the AmVets and member of the FOE. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and singing karaoke. A Funeral service will be held 4 PM Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia with Rev. Ken Day officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 PM Sunday at the funeral home. He will be interred 11 AM Tuesday at the Dayton National Cemetery. Richard worked for me as a delivery driver.
He quickly became a good friend of mine.
What a neat guy and very funny.
I heard him sing once and he was great!!
