FAIRBORN — U.S. Army SFC (Ret.) Richard L. Robinson, age 72, of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born September 14, 1950, in Leatherwood, KY, the son of the late J.C. Robinson and Jacqueline (Duff) Robinson. Richard served his country diligently in the U. S. Army, retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. Richard followed his 20-year active-duty career with employment as a carrier with the USPS, retiring after 16 years at the Old North Dayton Post Office. In life Richard was a lifetime member of the VFW-Fairborn 686 and also a member of the American Legion Post 200. In addition, Richard successfully traveled to all fifty U.S. States, together with his wife. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Jacqueline Robinson of Fairborn; and his parent-in-laws, Edward (Melba) Zimmer of New Carlisle; sister-in-law, Roberta Combs; brother-in-law, Robert Petrokas. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marilyn (Zimmer) Robinson; son, Shawn Patrick Robinson (Angela Matheney); daughter, Amanda Rae (Kyle) Donnelly; five grandchildren, Kayleigh; Olivia; Gabriel; Andrew; Kinsey; sister, Saundra (Roger) Yoakum; brother, Ray (Lily) Robinson; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Judith Petrokas; Janet (Gayle) Batton; Paris Combs; Marcia (Bob) Hollins; Nancy (Joe) Teerman; special nieces, nephews, as well as many extended members of the family. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service, Pastor Bob Hollins officiating. Burial with military honors will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 10:00 A.M., at Dayton National Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Called to Freedom Fellowship, 710 N. 4th St., Cambridge, OH, 43725 or to Ohio Valley Hospice—Beavercreek in Richard's memory.
