XENIA — Ruth E. Louderback, age 95, of Xenia, passed away on November 14, 2024. Born at home in Xenia on May 18, 1929, Ruth was the daughter of Harry and Marie (Smith) Dillard. A life well-lived, Ruth brought light and laughter to those fortunate enough to know her. She worked as an aide at Heathergreene Nursing Home in Xenia, a role that reflected her caring nature. She was a proud member of the F.O.E. and found joy in dancing, bingo nights, bus trips, and lively social events at Shawnee Estates Assisted Living, where she earned the affectionate nickname of "social butterfly" from the staff and residents. Ruth's vibrant spirit was undeniable. She loved traveling, shopping, dining out, and sharing stories. She had a knack for catching up on the latest gossip and always made time to listen, showing a genuine interest in the lives of her family and friends. With her ever-present smile that could light up a room, Ruth often defied expectations, remaining fiercely independent until the age of 93. Her boundless energy and steadfast determination often made it difficult for those half her age to keep up. A true caregiver at heart, Ruth also had a deep love for her pets, caring for them with the same affection and dedication she showed to her family. Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Harry Dillard; her mother, Marie Bush; her husband, Edwin J. Louderback, Jr; her daughter, Marta L. Walker; and her siblings: June Knight, Betty Conley, Wanda Wertz, and Bud Dillard. She is survived by her son, Keith Barnett; her grandsons, Jason Walker (David Smith) and Corey Walker; her great-granddaughter, Winter Nabors; and numerous nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Kim Conley. She cherished her family deeply and shared many meaningful moments with them. A celebration of Ruth's remarkable life will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation begins at 10:30 AM, immediately followed by the funeral service . Ruth will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
