XENIA — Sandra J. Channels, age 71, of Xenia, passed away October 10, 2021 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Corrinne (Bowman) and Bernard Johnson Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: John Channels and brothers: Billy Johnson and Bernard J. Johnson Jr. She was also preceded in death by Albert and Doris Ringo, who raised Sandra as their own. Mrs. Channels retired as a certified nursing assistant at the Wickshire Assisted Living in Fairborn. She graduated from Xenia High School. She enjoyed traveling and fishing. She also enjoyed visiting the casinos and playing the slot machines. She will be greatly missed by her neighbors as the host of their daily "Happy Hour." She is survived by her children: Stacy (Mark) Tolston of Dallas, GA and Joe Garrett of Smyra, GA; grandchildren: Maleya Tolston; Jaden Garrett; Marcus Tolston; and Jason Allen; siblings: Jerry (Darlene) Johnson of Fairborn; Eddie (Linda) Johnson of NY; Kenny (Williestine) Johnson of E. St. Louis, IL: Carl Johnson of Xenia; Patricia McCoy and Delores Johnson, both of Dayton, OH; and sister-in-law: Shirley Johnson; special friends: Brenda White and Gerald Porter Sr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services to celebrate Mrs. Channels life will be held 11:30 AM Monday, October 18th at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Elder James Clark officiating. She will be buried at Cherry Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:30 AM Monday until the time of service at the funeral home.
