Suzanne Andes Obituary

XENIA — Our beloved mother Suzanne Andes would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family, friends, beloved pets, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Suzanne Marie Leahey Andes became an angel on November 19, 2022 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Louise McGaughey Leahey Tuhey and James Leahey, her step father Robert E. Tuhey, and her late husband Stuard "Sam" Andes Jr. Suzanne was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 1, 1934. She attended Xenia City schools and Ursiline Academy. She also attended Wittenberg University and the University of Dayton, obtaining her degree in music education. She taught music in Fairborn City Schools at Central Elementary, Black Lane Elementary, Wright Elementary, and Title 1 reading classes at Five Points Elementary. She was an accomplished pianist, and passed her love of music down to her children and grandchildren. She met her husband Sam on a blind date set up by mutual friends Roger and Peggy Pitstick at Ye Old Trail Tavern in Yellow Springs. They were married on May 1, 1954 - her 20th birthday. They were married 52-years at the time of Sam's passing in 2006. Aside from her family, Suzanne loved music, animals, football (especially Ohio State and the Bengals) and watching dramas on the Lifetime Channel. She also enjoyed her Facebook account, which easily enabled her to keep in touch with family and friends. She attended music concerts with her children, actually taking them to their first concert in 1966 - The Beatles. Her last concert was Earth, Wind and Fire in July 2022. She even met the members of the band Chicago in 2019. Her love of animals was inspired by her parents, and along with her husband Sam, they adopted many stray dogs, cats, and even rabbits over the years. Her last pet was her beloved white lab Maggie, who was her companion after Sam passed. Suzanne is survived by her four children: Carole (Tim) Hart, Sam (Colleen) Andes, Jeanne (Mark) Bolser, and Jim Andes; her grandchildren Chanelle (Nick) Wilson, Christopher Andes-Davis, Amber (John) Steele, Kelly (Josh) Keeton, Hilary (Justin) Farmer, Kyle (Kristen) Andes, Sophia (Tom) Stoffel, Shawn Hart, and Michael Andes; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Brooklyn, Cayden, Jayce, Kirk and soon to be Eli. Suzanne had a wonderful relationship with her sons and daughters-in-law - Tim, Colleen, Mark, and Tina - they were as much her children as her own. We were blessed to have her as our mother and as our friend, especially as long as we did. She will be missed more than words can express. She was our family's biggest prayer warrior. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 23, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Suzanne will be laid to rest next to her husband in a private service at Byron Cemetery following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Condolences may be made to the family at www.BeltonStroup.com.
