Wiley Blair Obituary

Wiley "Delbert" Blair, of Madison, Fla., passed away at his home, on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, after an extended illness, surrounded by his family.
Delbert was born Feb. 28, 1944, to Wiley Fulford Blair and Sadie Sands Blair. In his early years, he grew up on the farm helping his dad plow, feed cows and pigs, and working in the tobacco fields. He was involved in 4-H and FFA.
Delbert served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was an electrician and air conditioner contractor. If something broke, Delbert could fix it; no need to call another repairman or buy a new product. Delbert was a Jack-of-all-trades.
He retired from the Madison County School Board as head of the maintenance department. After retirement, he was a security guard for Yarbrough Security at the Smithfield Plant (former Dixie Packers) in Madison.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior on Feb. 19, 2005. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Madison, where he attended until his illness prevented him from going.
Delbert loved his family but truly loved being called "Big Daddy" by his grandsons, Lane and JD Peavy. He spent many hours taking them fishing and whatever else they wanted to do, such as going to Ken's Bar-B-Que. The boys also helped Big Daddy when he was working on air conditioners. It was a great joy to have his great grandson, Tuff, come visit him at home. When Tuff arrived, Big Daddy's face would light up and his spirits lifted.
We cannot thank Big Bend Hospice enough for the care Delbert received under their care.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Jane Andrews Blair; a daughter, Paige Michele Blair Peavy and her husband, Opie Peavy; grandsons, Lane Blair Peavy and wife, Logan Dawkins Peavy; and Joseph Delbert "JD" Peavy and one great grandson, Tuff Lane Peavy.
He is also survived by his brothers and their wives: Hugh Wetzel (Marilyn) Blair, Gwenn Morgan (Susan) Blair and Clay Andrew (Donna) Blair, all of Madison, Fla.; Brothers-in-law: Paul Lamar (Cathy) Andrews, of Daytona Beach and William H. (Shirley) Andrews, of Madison, Fla., and Butch Baker, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Sadie Blair; sister, Brenda E Blair Baker and brother, Dale M. Blair.
Visitation was held at Beggs Madison Chapel, on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church of Madison, on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Bend Hospice at, 1923 Mahan Center Boulevard in Tallahassee, Florida 32308, or Fellowship Baptist Church of Madison, Fla.
