Fred Franklin, 91, of Greeneville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday at his home.
He was born May 11, 1932, to the late Manley and Almeda (Rice) Franklin.
Fred was a member of Tusculum Baptist Church.
He retired from Ball Zinc.
He was a veteran of the U.S Army and a member of The American Legion Post No. 64.
The most important thing in his life was his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Franklin; a grandson: Michael Franklin; a brother: Ralph Franklin; his sisters: Mamie (Roston) Franklin, Ruby Norton-Franklin, and Hazel (Leonard) Partin; and a son-in-law: Johnny Brown.
He is survived by his three children: Tony and Gail Franklin, Donna Brown, and Shelby Childers and Steve Swecker; grandchildren: Jason and Torri Emmette, Russell and Amber Emmette, Jennifer and Todd Douglas, Nathan and Rebecca Brown, Cammie Fowler, and Brittany Franklin and Boyd Knack; great-grandchildren: Bryson and Marla Foulks, Kristina and Jonathon Morgan, Dakota Emmette, Chealsey Emmette, Jordan Peterson, Ethan Emmette, Kaitlyn Foulks, Brady Ramsey, Makenna Brown, and Ava Lawhorn; special friends: Ottis and Emmalou Haney, Jeff and Lilia Hux, Guy and Ola Mae Metcalf, Ronnie and Etta Hensley, and Sam and Becky Heinbach; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service at Afton. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in Jeffers Afton Chapel with Pastor David Smith officiating.
The graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery. Family and friends are requested to meet at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tusculum Baptist Church.
