MEMPHIS - Geraldine Grubbs Murphy, 89, of Memphis where she lived for 20 years, passed Nov. 7, 2022.
Geraldine is survived by her niece: Elizabeth Colston and her husband, Anthony Colston; and their children: Ethan Colston (19) and Dylan Colston (16).
She was preceded in death by her husband: William Murphy; and her sister: Carolyn Grubbs Escue.
Geraldine was born Aug. 12, 1933, to Dana and Alberta Grubbs in Afton. The family later moved to Tusculum.
Geraldine and her husband spent most of their marriage living and teaching school in El Paso, Texas. She eventually moved to Memphis, after her husband passed, to be near her sister, niece, and her great-nephews.
Geraldine had a fondness of education. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Emory and Henry College and her Master of Arts Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers. She was Commissioned in 1970 as a member of the State Textbook Committee. She taught History in high school and middle school.
She was laid to rest next to her husband Jan. 18 at Restlawn Memorial Park in El Paso.
