Jerry Ralph Scalf
Born: September 28, 1949 | Died: June 12, 2025
Jerry Ralph Scalf, 75, of the South Central Community, husband of Jenny Jennings Scalf, passed away on Thursday. He was a member of and attended Liberty FWB Church for many years as long as his health permitted.
After graduating from Washington College Academy, Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1969 – 1972, during the Vietnam era. He was also a member of the American Legion. Returning from the service, he worked at Greene Valley Developmental Center in the payroll department for 45+ years, meeting and helping many colleagues and lifelong friends.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, Jerry is survived by his loving daughter: Brandi Broyles and son-in-law, Benjamin Broyles; one sister: Carolyn Brobeck of Bluff City; a special cousin, whom he loved like a sister: Judy Scalf; one niece: Susan Netherland and husband, Andy, of Bluff City; one nephew: David Brobeck and wife, Sarah, of Chattanooga; special great-nieces: Ella Brobeck and Shakota Jennings; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Seaton, Kathy Mathiesen and friend, Russell Waddell, and Donna Rasnake and husband, Curtis; one brother-in-law: Larry Jennings and wife, Cindy.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Charmie Scalf; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Bertha and Molie Jack Jennings; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Parkins and husband, Ruble, Nellie Gunter, Barbara Johnson and husband, JB; brothers-in-law: Billy Jennings, Jackie Jennings, Billy Ray Seaton, Dr. Marlin Mathiesen, and Ernest Lilly; a special cousin, whom Jerry loved like a brother: Billy E. Scalf, who passed away on June 10th.

Visitation and memorial services were held on Monday. The Rev. Ronnie Knight and the Rev. Randall Frisbee officiated.
Family and friends are asked to gather at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17th, to go in procession to Liberty Cemetery for the 5 p.m. military graveside service. The Greene County Honor Guard will convey honors.
Pallbearers will be Larry Jennings, Johnny and Terry Parkins, Benjamin Broyles, Andy Netherland, Dalton Boyd, and Darrell Brackens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hope, Gary Kimery, Steve Love, Johnny Bowman, Randall Gibson, and special friends: Cathy Street, Jeania Luttrell, Amy Barham, Donna Cutshaw, Linda Overholt, and Sheila Ooten; and his beloved pets, Sammy and Miss Kitty.
