Jimmie Ruth Pierce, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025 surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and warmth that touched everyone who knew her. Born September 23, 1932 in Greeneville, Tennessee to Lawrence Presnell Mauk and Viola Imogene Moncier Mauk. She lived a full and beautiful life, defined by deep connection with others, generosity, and a joyful spirit that never dimmed.

She attended Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greeneville, TN and retired from Ball Corporation in 1992 after 20 years of employment.

From an early age, Jimmie Ruth had a passion for basketball. She graduated from Greeneville High School where she was an all-county player and earned the reputation as a fierce competitor and natural leader on the court. Her love for the game continued throughout her life, and she remained a devoted college basketball fan especially of her two favorite teams, the Tennessee Volunteers and the North Carolina Tar Heels. But more than anything, Jimmie Ruth's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Her heart also held a special place for her beloved grand pups Bentley, Clyde, and Gus who brought her endless joy and companionship.

To so many, she was affectionately known as Mamaw Jimmie not just to her family, but friends as well. Known for her gentle spirit and infectious laugh, Jimmie Ruth never met a stranger. She lit up every room she entered with her kindness, smile, quick wit, and unshakable joy. Her love for life was contagious, and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her.

Jimmie Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Robert John Pierce (RJ), her parents, sisters Betty Mauk Brooks, Jean Mauk Bales, niece Linda Bales, and stepson Robert Pierce. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Livengood, son-in-law Scott Livengood, Winston Salem, NC, granddaughter Meredith Parman Palmer (Matt), Durham, NC, stepson Ron Pierce (Lana predeceased), and grandchildren Jason Pierce (Mandi), Christy Ball (David) all of Knoxville, TN, Maria Pierce Dixon, Bobby Pierce (Debbie), Johnny Catoe (Rachel), Daniel Pierce (Kimberly), along with special extended family- nephew, Larry Bales, Greeneville, TN and nieces, Daphnie Ryan, Largo, FL, Sharon Jennings (Gene), Kim Easterley (Kevin), Mattilyn & Riley Easterly, all of Greeneville, TN, Chandra Wills (Josh) and Sydney Wills, all of Fort Liberty, NC, cousins Mary Kingery and Phyllis Robinson and countless friends and loved ones who will carry her memory in their hearts.

The family wishes to thank and express their gratitude to the administration and staff of Vienna Village Assisted Living for their compassionate and excellent care.

A private family internment will be held in her hometown of Greeneville, Tennessee in the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery with her late husband, a veteran, RJ Pierce.

We had the pleasure of knowing Mamaw Jimmie for the past 15 years and grew to love her as though she were our true "Mamaw". She was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. Over the holidays, she could always be counted on as a top-notch competitor at almost any game put in front of her. We know her family will sorely miss her, and so will we. Our heartfelt condolences to her family, especially Michelle, Scott, Meredith, and Matt. She will always be someone we remember with lots of laughter and smiles.
