The Rev. Jimmy "Fay" Trantham, 84, of Greeneville, passed away Sunday at Greeneville Community Hospital East surrounded by his family.
He was a local pastor.
The family states he was a loving husband, father, papaw, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
Jimmy is survived by his wife: Vernie Trantham; children: Cherl Trantham, Frankie (Lisa) Trantham, Cindy (Terry) Bowling, Sondra (Kermit) Shelton, Dede (William) Yount, Ricky Lloyd, Clay (Lora) Lloyd, Bernice (David) Miller, Shelia Gregg, Becky (Berry) Furr, Lester Lloyd, and Kathy Partin; 32 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Leslie Trantham and Stella Cutshaw Trantham; his first wife: Joyce Trantham; and grandsons: A.J. Lloyd and Matthew Jones.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with David Miller and the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery in Hawkins County.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family expresses a special thanks to Amedisys Home Health, the doctors and nurses at Greeneville Community Hospital East, and to so many friends for love, visits, care and food.
