Joe Ann "Jo Ann" Tweed
Jo Ann was born March 16th 1942 and passed away October 2nd 2025 at the age of 83 at Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by family. Jo Ann was born and raised in the south western side of Greene County in the Caney Branch community. Jo Ann wore many hats through out the years including farmer, nurse, and restaurant owner.
Jo Ann and her husband Johnny ran their family dairy farm, Spring Valley Dairy, until 2007. She worked at Tacoma Adventist Hospital for 25 years where she made many life long friends that were very special to her. Jo Ann also managed and ran the Caney Branch Restaurant for 15 years.
Jo Ann's greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was ready to show a photo of her family at any moment. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them.
Jo Ann loved to garden and plant flowers. She was known to always have a wonderful garden and beautiful display of flowers at her house.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years Johnny Tweed. Her children, Johnathan Tweed (Terri Earley) and Julie Carter (Wes). Stepson John (Kim) Tweed .Grandchildren, Cameron Tweed (DJ Buff), Hannah Tweed Casteel (Justin), Morgan Tweed, Bryan Shelton (Caroline), Joey Tweed and Halle Tweed. Great Grandson, Grayson Shelton. Sister, Gail Ayers Cantini (Armin). Special friends, Dorothy Ottinger Peggy Neas, and William Ball.
Preceded in death by her parents Theiran and Elsie Ayers. Sister, Jane Wooley. Daughter-in-law Kimberly Tweed.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm at Jeffers Funeral Service at Afton. The funeral will follow at 4 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Tweed officiating. The graveside service will be Monday at 10 am in Greenelawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are requested to meet at 9 am to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Shelton, Cameron Tweed, DJ Buff, Justin Casteel, Rick Tipton, Jake Ottinger, John Ottinger, Tim Tweed and William Ball.
