Katherine Harrison Bowman

Katherine Frances Harrison Bowman, 91, of the Sunnyside Community, passed away Friday at her home.
Born July 13, 1934, in Greenville, South Carolina to parents, Wayland and Lucille Thompson Harrison. Returning to
Greeneville, TN, the family settled in the Sunnyside Community of Greene County where Katherine attended grade school. A 1952 graduate of Greeneville High School and Greeneville School of Commerce in 1953.
During the years ahead she studied accounting, business skills, and received the ART Professional status from the American Medical Records Association. Working from 1950 to 1993, when she chose to be home with her husband of 42 years, Thomas Leighton Bowman, who passed away on September 22, 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters: Irene Harrison Keasling, and Dolores Harrison Mathes; brothers: Joseph Edward Harrison, Thomas Randall Harrison, and William Henry Harrison; brothers-in-law: Robert E. Keasling, Bud Mathes, and Dale Bowman; sisters-in-law: Maxine Rollins Harrison and Wilda Harrison.
Survivors include her children: Harrison Bowman, Beth Ann and Mike Norton; grandchildren: Ryan Norton and Jordan (Sari) Norton; sister-in-law: Jean Johnson Bowman; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caregivers: Fran Gregg, Patsy Stanton, Mary Tweed, and April Tweed.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greeneville and the Grace Class. She was a volunteer in the Church Library until 2016, member of the Women on Mission of the church. Before 2005, she attended and was a member of Mt. Pisgah U.M. Church at Sunnyside, during which she served in many positions of the church.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25th, at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel at 1 o'clock with Dr. David Green and the Rev. Joey Tillery officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be cousins, neighbors, and friends.

Katherine had written her own obituary; the following is how she chose to conclude it: "Thank you all for your love and care through your prayers and visits and being loving friends. God's wonderful blessings to all."
