Peter Gill Obituary

Peter Gill

Born: January 12, 1943 | Died: March 7, 2025

Peter Carver Gill, age 82, of Snellville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025. A devoted husband to his wife, Margie, and cherished father to his sons, Geoffrey and Christopher, he will be deeply missed.

Born in Schenectady, New York, Peter was known for his outstanding work ethic, kindness, sense of humor and love of family. He loved all sports, especially basketball, which was a significant part of his high school and college years. Peter had a successful 30-year career in manufacturing that included managing plant operations in Greeneville, TN; Wake Forest, NC; and Lawrenceville, GA.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margie Lynn Gill; his sons, Geoffrey Gill (Gina) and Christopher Gill (Elizabeth); grandchildren: Katie Gill; Matthew Gill; Henry Gill; Jackson Gill; Ben Gill; sister, Sheila Taylor (Dene); and stepdaughter, Shannon Dervay. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Lloyd Gill; his mother, Marion Dill Gill; brother, Jim Gill; and stepdaughter, Shawne Dervay.

Peter was a quiet, unassuming man. As such, the family will be holding a small, private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider a donation to your local Humane Society or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
