Richard W. Hamlin

Born: March 1, 1945 | Died: December 15, 2025

Richard Wayne Hamlin, age 80, of Greeneville, passed away at his home on Monday.

He was a 1964 graduate of Greeneville High School and served in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He retired from Parker Hannifin. Richard was a Baptist and had several hobbies, including building and racing dirt cars, hunting, fishing, and golf. He was a past Scout Leader for Troup 92.

Survivors include one son: Larry (Brandy) Hamlin; daughter: Stacey (Brian) Jones; sister: Connie Hamlin; grandchildren: Angel (Corey) Plemmons, Ethan Dykes, Eli Dykes, and Kady (Troy) Hampton; great-grandchildren: Whitley Hampton, Jaxon Plemmons, and Emmett Plemmons; special companion: Joyce Bird; and Kawana Rose, whom he thought of as a daughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Hamlin in 2004; parents: Levi and Beatrice Hamlin; brother: Jimmy Hamlin; sister: Brenda Jones.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23rd, in the chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The Rev. Jonathan Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens with the Greene County Honor Guard conveying military honors.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, December 22nd, at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
