Scarlett Marjorie Gregg Harmon, 75, of Erwin, passed away Monday at Christian Care Center.
She was a graduate of McDonald High School. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in English and Library Sciences and a Master's Degree in Special Education from East Tennessee State University. She taught in the Greeneville City Schools for more than 35 years.
She served as Worthy Matron of Mosheim Chapter No. 292, the Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Matron of Sunrise Court No. 20, Order of the Amaranth, and President of Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority.
She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband: John Harmon; her sister: DeAnna Gregg Gray; one brother-in-law: Charles Harmon; two sisters-in-law: Johnnie Harmon and Kathy Harmon; four nieces and their husbands: Anna Gray and James Fender of Columbia, South Carolina, Kaitlyn Gray and Shell Watson of London, England, Melanie Harmon and John Young of Mansfield, Georgia, and Michelle Harmon of Franklin, North Carolina; three great-nieces and two great-nephews; several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Hugh and Ruby Nell Douthat Gregg; two infant twins (brother and sister); one sister-in-law: Jean Harmon; and one brother-in-law: Charlie Gray.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. There will be an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. with the funeral service following directly after. The Rev. Lindy Sturm will officiate.
Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be members of the church.
The family expresses a thanks to the staff of Governor's Bend Assisted Living Center and Christian Care Center for excellent care of Scarlett.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 88540, Carol Stream, IL 60188. Please notate it being in memory of Scarlett.
