Sheryl Stamey Stiffler Shields was born 7 December 1950 in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Floyd William and Jeannette Nolin Stamey. Ms. Shields died at her home on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Midway, TN, where she has resided since 2007.
Ms. Shields grew up in St. Mary's County, MD with her brothers and sisters: Marilyn Arlene, Betty Ann McMullen and Janet T. Tice of Pennsylvania; Alice Mae Ensley of Waynesville, NC, and Joseph T. Stamey of Erwin, TN. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Phillip Arthur and Charles William Stamey.
Ms. Shields retired from the U.S. Government in 2003 where she was an Aircraft Program Manager and Business/Financial Manager for 33 years before becoming a homemaker. She received two Meritorious Civilian Service awards during her career. She enjoyed antiquing, genealogy research, gardening, and reading.
Ms. Shields is survived by her brother and his family Joseph, Crissy, and Jessie Stamey.
No memorial service is planned. Memorial contributions can be made to the Greenville-Greene County Humane Society, P.O. Box 792, Greeneville, TN 37744.
