Joseph Kines

Joseph A. "Joe" Kines, age 79, of New Palestine, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025. He was born in Canton, Ohio on January 17, 1946, to Walter A. and Ruth E. (Tice) Kines. He graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1963. Joe received his Bachelor's Degree from Ball State University in 1970. He married Peggy (Jameson) Kines on September 6, 1969 in Pendleton, Indiana.

He worked for Allstate Insurance as Director of Operations for over 30 years before retiring in 2000. He was a valued employee of Old Oakland Golf Club from 2012-2025.

Joe loved playing golf and played St. Andrews in Scotland. He and his wife enjoyed traveling together. Joe enjoyed being outside in the sun, listening to music and was a grill enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family and cheering for all 5 of his grandchildren as they played sports.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter Kelly (Paul) Matuszewski of Chicago; son, Jeff (Ashley) Kines of McCordsville; grandchildren, Carina Matuszewski, Pier Matuszewski, Avery Kines, Drew Kines, and Logan Kines; and niece, Beth Farley. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Kines; and grandson, Miles Matuszewski.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 10:30 am until 12:30pm, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm following the visitation, with Pastor Mark Havel officiating. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery.
