Judith Merlau

Judith Ann (Etter) Merlau, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was born in Greencastle on August 31, 1938 to John Ralph Etter and Marjorie Clark (Culpepper) Etter. She graduated from Greenfield-Central High School in 1956. On March 1, 1958, she married Charles William Merlau, Jr. in Greenfield.

She worked for Western Electric as a stenographer for 5 years. Judith then worked, as a secretary, for the Hancock County Health Department for 7 years and then Cumberland Town Hall for 10 years. She enjoyed her work during her working years. In her free time, Judith enjoyed ceramics, cooking, and water aerobics. She was involved with the women's group at her church and loved taking care of her family.

Judith is survived by her loving husband, Charles; sons, Christopher Merlau and Michael Merlau (Regina Payne); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-granchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marjorie; and son, David J. Merlau.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Anthony Stone will be officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Greenfield.
