Loretta Holbrook Obituary

Loretta Holbrook, 84 of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Greenfield Healthcare Center. She was born on March 29, 1940, in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Harley & Beatrice (Smith) Thompson. She graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1959. Loretta married the love of her life, Ronald Lee Holbrook on September 26, 1963, in Clintwood, VA.

Loretta spent her working years at home raising and caring for her family. She previously attended Bethel Baptist Church in Greenfield. Loretta enjoyed the many years she was able to spend with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her precious grandchildren.

Loretta is survived by daughters, Michelle Prather of Greenfield; Melanie (Ryan) Bewley of Greenfield; nine grandchildren, Megan Todd; Brandon Begley; Hannah Prather; Rylee Bewley; Loren Bewley; Mark Smotherman; Maddie Holbrook; Maverick Holbrook; Cailyn Clay; three great-grandchildren, Mara Todd; Larry Todd; and Ryder Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Lee Holbrook; son, Ronald Mark Holbrook; brothers, Harold and Glenn Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Private burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Charitable donations in memory of Loretta may be sent via mail to the Alzheimer's Association, Attn: Donor Services, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, by website https://act.alz.org, or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
