Alexander Stop Obituary
With deepest sorrow we announce the loss of our beloved son, Alex Stop after struggles with depression. It was a life that was way too short.
Alex was an energetic and inquisitive child, and the favorite question was always, Why? This inquisitiveness continued and Alex enjoyed reading and researching topics of interests which changed over time including history, geography and Russian.
Scouting was very important to Alex from Cub Scouts through earning the Eagle Scout rank in Troop 316 at age 15. For two summers Alex worked at Cherokee Scout Reservation as a counselor and enjoyed working with the Frogs first year program. The young scouts really enjoyed working with Alex while learning scouting skills.
In 2019, Alex graduated from Page High with honors. While at Page Alex ran on the Cross-Country team for all four years as well as Track and enjoyed this individual and group sport. After high school, Alex attended UNC Chapel Hill studying Peace, War and Defense with a minor in Russian language. During college, Alex was active with many social justice causes and enjoyed volunteer work helping others. Alex also enjoyed playing video games with friends and the engaged discussions during gaming.
Alex is survived by parents, Christopher and Paula Stop; brother, Patrick Stop; as well as grandparents, Alfred Legendre, Gerald and Marilyn Stop. Additionally, Alex left behind aunts and uncles, Randall and MariAnn Stop, Russell and Paula Stop, and Marc Legendre. Alex was predeceased by maternal grandmother, Carol Legendre.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel, 1118 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2715 Horse Pen Creek Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), PO Box 49104 Baltimore, MD 21297.
