April 26, 1947 - May 22, 2024
STOKESDALE – Ann Raffaldt Purgason, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Beacon Place in Greensboro.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charlie Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m., on Sunday, at the funeral home, and all other times at her residence.
Mrs. Purgason was born on April 26, 1947, in Chesterfield County, SC, to the late Lloyd David Raffaldt and Susie Thurman Raffaldt. For more than 30 years, Ann owned and operated numerous local convenient stores. She was a member of the Wentworth Church of God, where she adored her church family. Ann will be remembered for her love of shopping and reading, as well as having a servant's heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Purgason; sisters, Sue Snipes and Faye Roscoe; and brother, Lloyd David Raffaldt Jr.
Survivors include her son, Jim Goodwin (Crystal); daughter, Ramona Centry; grandchildren, Jordan Centry, Kodi Centry, Jessica Goodwin and Savannah Simmons; granddaughter of the heart, Lauren Manring; and sisters, Dale Florence (Ron) and Frances Campbell (Paulie).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wentworth Church of God and/or AuthoraCare Hospice/Beacon Place in Greensboro. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family. Condolences may be offered at www.colonialfh.net.
