Barbara Eichelberger Obituary

Barbara Ann Eichelberger, 72, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on March 18, 2023. Barbara was born on July 17, 1951, and was a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. She was a vivacious, energetic person with a perpetually optimistic worldview. Barbara was gracious and had a warm personality. She was quick to compliment others. She loved to interact with people and had an easy smile and laugh.

Barbara graduated from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, class of 1969. Later she attended North Carolina State University and Georgia Tech. She went on to teach at Montessori Schools in Houston, Texas, and Baltimore, Maryland.

In her free time, Barbara loved to dance, shop, dine out, and listen to pop radio, especially Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Paula Abdul. She enjoyed spending time with her children and loved the sunshine.

As a young woman, Barbara was a caring mother who spent many years doting over her young children, reading to them, praying with them, and teaching them. She shared the Gospel with each of her children and was instrumental in their own faith.

Barbara is survived by her son, Bryce Eichelberger, and daughter, Chara Eichelberger, her 6 grandchildren, Sofia Garcia, Eli Eichelberger, Isa Garcia, Sam Eichelberger, Brendan Eichelberger, and Noah Eichelberger, as well as her sister, Linda Edwards, brother, Chuck Edwards, sister, Betsy Geddes, step-brother Tony Barnhill and step-brother Mickey Barnhill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Eichelberger, father, John Edwards, mother Beatrice Marguerite Edwards, and stepmother, Nina Edwards.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Alpharetta, Georgia, on April 22, 2023, to honor Barbara's life and legacy.
Published by Greensboro News & Record from Apr. 17 to Apr. 18, 2023.
