Betty Peraldo Obituary

Betty Faye King Peraldo

February 25, 1933 - July 14, 2024

GREENSBORO - Betty Faye King Peraldo died peacefully on July 14, 2024, at the age of 91 at Beacon Place in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her family was with her during her transition and passing.

Betty was born on February 25, 1933, in Four Oaks, North Carolina. She was raised in Cary, North Carolina where she graduated from Cary High School and later earned an associate degree in business management. After relocating to Greensboro with her husband Henry in 1964 Betty worked as the office administrator for Lamb Distributing Company in Greensboro for twenty-five years.

Which, of course, brings us to Henry. As the often-told story goes, in 1950 Betty was on vacation with her girlfriends at Virginia Beach when she spotted a cute lifeguard. Betty went into the water and pretended to be in trouble. As fate would have it, Henry spotted her first, entered the water to rescue her and administered on the beach what he later described to be "mouth to mouth recreation." A fulfilling, loving, and rewarding fifty-seven-year marriage followed. In their retirement Betty and Henry were members of the Cardinal Golf and Country Club and at their Florida winter home in Lake Wales Country Club where they both played golf and were active socially while at the same time making sure to give back to the communities that had been and were so good to them by driving for Meals on Wheels, hospital volunteerism and participating in other senior and shut-in services. Betty understood and practiced the balance.

Betty, at her core, was a nurturer and a giver. She was an active member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church from 1964 until her death where she served as a Deacon and an Elder. She taught Sunday School, led Bible study classes, served as the Den Mother for the church Cub Scout Pack, kept the nursery so the young parents could attend worship and served in the church kitchen for church family funerals. After her retirement she volunteered for many years at Beacon Place, Kids' Path and she weekly made in-home hospice visits. At age 85 she often remarked she had to take care of "the seniors." It was fitting that she spent her final days at Beacon Place.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Henry, her grandson Chandler and her six brothers and sisters. She is survived by the light of her life her granddaughter Leah Shea, her son Jeff and daughter-in-law Michele and her step-grandsons Thomas and Nathan Altmann.

The family is grateful to the staff of Beacon Place for the compassionate and loving care they provided to Betty and her family requests that memorial contributions be made to Beacon Place and Kids' Path, 2504 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.

My heart is breaking with you! Betty was a good friend and neighbor for many years in the Cardinal. She was a great cook!
Joe passed away about one month before Betty did at Beacon Place as well. My thoughts are with you.

My heart aches with you, Jeff. I have a lot of loving memories of Betty and Henry! They were our next-door neighbors for many years. She was a wonderful cook and a good friend!
Joe also passed at Beacon Place just a month before your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

I am so glad that I got to share in Betty's life. She was always part of our travel club here at Heritage Greens. We shared in road trips in the mountains and beaches of NC and places from here to Florida. Betty was always ready to go! She enjoyed our dance parties and playing bridge. I will certainly miss her in August as we head to Emerald Isle. She was always our "host" at the dinners. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Hi Michelle and Jeff,
We miss Betty so much at the chapel at Heritage Greens where Sue and I have ministered to Betty and the large group that gather there each Sunday morning for the past 5 years. Betty was so loving and kind, always encouraging us and letting us know about the needs of others. She was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and a great example to all of us. Pastor Doug and Sue Huff.

I played a lot of golf with Betty at The Cardinal and must say she never had a cross word with any of the women. Her attitude was a wonderful attribute.
She is with Henry now and knowing Henry, he asked her what took so long.

I hate to hear about Betty passing away. I knew her and Henry at the Cardinal and they were both such a fun couple and great people. Always upbeat and friendly she´ll be missed by Jeff and family and many friends. I can imagine now her and Henry back together in heaven smiling down. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Peraldo family.
