Bobby Gauldin, Sr.

January 16, 1939 - November 9, 2025

Bobby Allen Gauldin, Sr., 86, of Stokesdale, N.C., passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2025, after a brief illness. Born January 16, 1939, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life reflected hard work, kindness, and deep love for family and community.

A lifelong Stokesdale resident, Bobby grew up on a farm and graduated from Stokesdale High School in 1957. After his father's passing, he began working at Mock Judson Hosiery Mill while still in school, forming the strong work ethic that carried him through his long career. He worked at Cone Mills Print Works and Guilford Dairy before beginning a successful career in sales with Lance, Continental Coffee, Select Foods, Biggers Brothers, and later U.S. Food Service, retiring in 2002. Known for his quick wit and welcoming personality, he made friends wherever he went.

In retirement, Bobby cherished time with his grandson, Tristan, and later worked part-time for the Greensboro News & Record and Lowe's Foods in Oak Ridge, where he became a beloved employee. He enjoyed vintage cars, NASCAR, coin and arrowhead collecting, local history, and traveling with his wife, Rachel, his partner in 67 wonderful years of marriage.

Bobby was a proud Mason with Stokesdale Lodge #428 for more than 55 years, serving twice as Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and long-time member of Stokesdale United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wyatt and Bessie Neal Gauldin; brothers, James R. and Clinton; sisters, Rachel James and Ina Mae; and nephew, Keith Gauldin. He is survived by his wife, Rachel R. Gauldin; son, Bobby Allen Gauldin Jr.; daughter, Lisa Gauldin Pegram (Tommy); grandson, Thomas "Tristan" Pegram; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to caregivers Dawn, Chris, and Evelyn, and to Authoricare Collective, especially nurse Chelsy and CNA Vendetta.
