Rice, Charles Thomas "Tom"

Charles Thomas Rice (known as Tom Rice), a resident of River Landing at Colfax and a former resident of the Adams Farm community in Greensboro passed away on Thursday May 13, 2021 at the Hospice Home of High Point.

He was born February 19, 1932 in Midland, MI, the son of the late Howard L. and Lois E. (Nickless) Rice. Tom is the elder of five children; two sisters and two brothers.

Tom attended Pine River School in Midland County, graduated from Midland High as class of '50 president and graduated with honor from Michigan State College in 1954. In 1966 he attended Harvard Middle Management School.

Tom married Virginia (Ginny) Bensch on September 17, 1955 who survives of the home. They have two sons, TR Rice (former wife Ann), Bret Rice (Teresa); five grandchildren, Katie Kelley (James), Charlie Rice, Patrick Rice, Sarah Rice and great granddaughter Emily Kelley.

Tom joined Dow Corning in 1954 and held several management positions in Midland and Hemlock, MI and later in Greensboro, NC and Tokyo, Japan. In 1979 he joined SEH America as General Manager and Executive Vice-President in Vancouver, WA where he led the growth of the company from 10 employees to 500. In 1984 he was named President of Cincinnati Semiconductor Materials Corp. He retired in 1988.

The family requests that memorials be made in Tom's memory to the charity of one's choice.

A Celebration of Life Service for Tom will be held in late July.
