Clay Faulkner Obituary

GREENSBORO On July 8, 2016, Captain Clay Faulkner completed his last flight to meet his Heavenly Father, following several years of heart disease. A determined, brave soul has finished his work on earth. Clay was born in Greensboro, the son of Henry Clay Faulkner, Sr., and Mary Lucille (Joyce) Faulkner. Raised in Greensboro, Clay graduated from Greensboro High School, class of 1963. Clay moved to Dania Beach, FL, and began his long career with Eastern Airlines (Miami) from 1971 to January 19, 1991, as a first officer, captain, check captain and instructor. Following the dissolution of Eastern, Clay joined Carnival Airlines, retaining all the same positions as he had at Eastern until they were acquired by the Gilford group in 1998, under the name of PanAm 3. The leadership promptly promoted him to director of flight operations. He left that position in 1999 for a challenging captain/instructor at a startup company known as Tradewinds Airlines and remained there until his forced retirement on October 25, 2004. Following his retirement, Clay went to Saudi Arabia in 2005 to set up an Airbus A300 cargo company named Midex Airlines, and returned in 2006. During his retirement, Clay enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing golf. Surviving are his sister, Joyce Dixon; nieces and nephews, Lisa and Keith Oliphant, Sharon and Tom Dixon, Elaine and Eddie Dixon. Visitation is on Tuesday, July 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fred Hunter University Funeral Home, 2401 South University Drive, Davie. Funeral service and the celebration of Clay's life will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clay's memory may be made to www.feedinggodschildren.com.
