Cynthia Johnson Obituary

Gainer Johnson, Cynthia Ann

March 2, 1946 - April 27, 2024

Cynthia Ann Gainer Johnson, 78, peacefully journeyed to her heavenly home on April 27, 2024, at Heartland Rehab Facility. Born on March 2, 1946, in Greensboro, NC, Cynthia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Robert Gainer Sr.; her husband of 48 years, Elmer (Charlie) Johnson; sons, Vic Davis and Charles (Chuck) Johnson; and brother, William Gainer.

Cynthia's legacy of love and support lives on through her surviving family members, sons, William, James (Jimi), Walter, and Mark Johnson; sister, Margo Lang (Foran); brother, Robert Gainer Jr.; sister-in-law, Alina Gainer; granddaughters, Rebecca Johnson, Courtney Peters, Gracie Johnson, Isabella Johnson, and Nyla Johnson; great-granddaughter, Everly Huffman; grandsons, Christopher Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Kody Johnson, Mark (Deuce) Johnson II, Brantley Johnson, and Bryson Johnson; great-grandson, Jaxton Taylor; her cherished granddog, Holly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cynthia's warmth and kindness extended beyond her family circle. She built lasting friendships with her customers at Brown-Gardiner Fountain, Pops Market and Grill, and The Greensboro County Club, where she retired.

Her faith was central to her life, and she was deeply involved in her church community at Bethel Baptist Church. Cynthia's loving spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A service to celebrate Cynthia's life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 12 noon at Bethel Baptist Church, located at 2230 Lee's Chapel Rd, Greensboro. Pastor Steve Gunter will officiate the ceremony.

I am so very sorry. She was such a cheerful, loving, and wonderful woman. Knew her for years. Rest easy my friend. My deepest condolences and prayers. Heaven gained another Angel.

Cindy was the best sister anyone could hope for. We laughed and cried together over the years, sharing so much of life's ups and downs. I miss her already and although I don't want to do life without her, I know I will see her again. Until we meet again my sweet sissy. Love, Margo
