MCLEANSVILLE DEEPAK MASSAND FOUND REPOSE IN HIS McLeansville, NC home on Monday, the 28th day of December 2015. An Inventor, philanthropist, passionate and loving family man who found his success at selflessly pursuing the causes and struggles of otherspassed away at the age of 64. Deepak was born into a large family in Indore, India, growing to run a prosperous tea plantation at the age of 25 in the notable region of Assam. Studying the science of agriculture, Deepak applied his education and continued zeal for knowledge by transcending many industries and regions of the world. After his immigration to the United States, Deepak had visionary innovations across the fields of textiles, pharmaceuticals, technology, and was the founder of locally headquartered global software company Lit?ra Corp. He was awarded his first of many U.S. patents in March of 1999 and continued seeing the world as something he could build upon and change for the better. As a man of great intellect, Deepak will forever be remembered as a visionary and the catalyst for change in the hearts of so many who loved him. He believed in the inherent power of individuals and was a cornerstone of the support system in his community; both globally and here in the Triad. Deepak was preceded in death to join the cherished spirits of his father Gopal Das Massand, his late wife Asha, an elder brother, Bharat Massand and his younger brother, Mahesh Massand and late sister-in-law, Malini Masand. Deepak is survived by his mother, Kaushliya Massand, wife Karen, daughter Raina and son Barrett Massand. Additionally, his eldest brother Manohar Massand's family, including wife Kiran, daughter Rymn and her husband Kai Zimmerman and their son Aarya. Also, his elder brother Harish Masand's family including wife Amrita, daughter Ruheene and her husband Kunal Jaura and their son Ziel. Finally Deepak's younger sister Renu Kohli and her husband Gurcharan, their son Amit and his wife Divya, and younger son Nick and his wife Jessica Kohli. He loved his nieces and nephews like his own children and they found in him a wonderful advisor and confidant. Deepak made purpose in surrounding himself with his extended family and friends of whom his ties and genuine loving demeanor crossed so many people, continents, generations and days in his life.The family will hold private services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to one of his favorite charities, Heifer International.Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel is assisting the Massand family.
