Ernest Joel Sewell, 84 of Holden Beach, N.C., formerly of Mobile, Ala., passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, following a time of declining health.
Ernest, or "Ernie" as he was affectionately known, was born in Mobile, Ala., on October 24, 1940, and was the son of the late Chester Ernest and Ruby Melton Sewell. In addition to his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Lancaster Sewell, in 1978; a stepdaughter, Karen Suzanne Settle; and a brother (infant), Malcolm Vance Sewell.
A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Rowena Porter Sewell, of 45 years; a daughter, Tisa O'Cain; a son, Vance Sewell; a stepdaughter, Shawn Angiono; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
