Fred Smith

LIBERTY Fred Smith, 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his residence. A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday at Mount Hope United Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park. Mr. Smith was born in Guilford County on May 5, 1933 to the late J. Fletcher Smith and Virgie Lineberry Smith. He was preceded in death by his brothers: J.F. Smith, Jr. and Jack Smith, his sisters: Katy Byrd and Dorothy Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Helen Friddle Smith, his daughter, Pam Schneider (Mark), his sisters: Shirley Bentley (Earl) and Elsie Bentley, his brothers: Harvey Smith (Margaret) and Ernest Smith (Rose Marie), his grandchildren: Heather Daniel (Brett) and Stephanie Gilbertson (Jens), and his great-grandchildren: Presley and Brooks Daniel.
