January 18, 1946 - January 10, 2022
Gary B. Barker passed away Monday, January 10. His parents Boyd B. Barker, Bertha F. Barker and his wife, Karen B. Barker, predeceased him.
He is survived by his sons, Boyd F. Barker and Joel M. Barker and spouse Sarah, granddaughter Alexus B. Nanny and spouse Austin, and great grandson James M. Nanney.
Born and raised in Greensboro, Gary was in the Grimsley class of 1964. On Halloween, 1966, Gary married his sweet heart and went on to raise their family.
Gary's career was based on sales, ranging from chemicals to retail. He was very active in community service as a Greensboro Jaycee and the Greensboro Power Squadron.
Due to the pandemic, there will be a graveside service on Wednesday, January 19, at 1:00 pm at Westminster Gardens.
Because of Gary's love of animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Guilford County Animal Shelter.

While I knew Gary only for a time we had many conversations about Greensboro's History...I was saddened when I learned of his passing...I know he will be missed what a great man and friend.

We had a wonderful driver/customer relationship. He would always call me by my nickname (Tank). And when Mr. Barker needed an earlier delivery he would call or come track me down. I´ll miss our short conversations and his knowledgeable experiences that you would share. Rest well my friend.
