Gene Wall

SANDY RIDGE Gene Wall, 88, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Penn Nursing Center. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Delta United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Gene was born on May 31, 1929, in Stokes County, to the late Allie Jackson and Mary Trudie Ray Wall. He was owner and operator of Wall's Texaco for 22 years. He was a former member of the Sandy Ridge Ruritan Club and served on the board of Community Bank. He was a recipient of the Stokes Conservation Farmer of the Year award. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ray, Bobby, and Clyde Wall, and a sister, Lena Young. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Christine Dodson Wall; a son, Steve Wall and wife, Vicki; a sister, Joy Slate; grandchildren, Heather Wall Hannequin (Christophe) and Courtney Wall Kerce (Brett); great-grandchildren, Alexandre and Caroline Hannequin and Brooke Elizabeth and Caleb Kerce; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, David and Melissa Cross. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at the home.
