REIDSVILLE GILBERT NELSON AMOS, 72, PASSED AWAY Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family.Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016, at Reidlawn Cemetery, with Dr. Greg Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 9:00 to10:00, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and other times at the home.Gilbert was born in Rockingham County on March 15, 1944 to the late Joe Wesley Amos, Sr. and Lessie Nelson Amos. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and was a God-fearing and loving person who loved his children more than himself. He was a selfless person who was always looking for someone else to help in time of need. He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Amos, Jr.Survivors include his daughters, April Briggs and Andrea Price and husband, Thomas Price, IV; brothers, David Amos, Sr. and Leon Amos; sister, Alice Setliff and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Nicholas Briggs and Megan Blankenship; sister-in-law, Linda Smith; devoted companion, Rita Bondurant; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and two of his closest friends, Bobby Donavant and Robin Miller.The family would like to thank Hospice of Rockingham County and Advance Home Health Care for the love and care shown to Gilbert during his time of need.
