STOKESDALE MRS. NORA Gladys Holland Vaughn, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 25, 2014.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel with Pastor Bill Chapman and Pastor Bobby Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Level Baptist Church cemetery.A Rockingham County native, Mrs. Vaughn was born on November 11, 1930, the daughter of the late Leonard and Bertha Marshall Holland. She was a born-again Christian with a quiet, strong faith. She was a homemaker and pastor's wife to Kenneth Vaughn whom she married in 1950. She was also a member and faithful attendee of Calvary Baptist Church in Summerfield as long as her health permitted.Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Bonnie Hill and Linda Burchette, and her grandson Joey Beck.She is survived by her six children Anthony (Sue) Vaughn, Ann (Terry) Beck, David (Elaine) Vaughn, Donna (Chris) Edden, Debbie (Bobby) Williams, and John (Linda) Vaughn; grandchildren Samuel Williams, Meghann Vaughn, Michael Beck, Rachel Vaughn, Stephen Vaughn, Amanda Edden, Alex Edden, Amy (Jesus) Taitano, and Caroline Vaughn and one great grandchild, Ellie Taitano. Surviving siblings are Nancy (Dewey) Alley, Frances Whicker, Jean (Fred) Freeman, Jack Holland, Ruth (Bud) Brady, Joanne (Clyde) Clark, Jimmy (Elaine) Holland, Judy (Johnny) White, and Grady (Jane) Holland.The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday afternoon from noon until 5 at the family home.Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405; or Calvary Baptist Church, 4917 Rhondan Road, Summerfield, NC 27358.On-line condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com
