GREENSBORO Mr. James "Jack" Lester Tuttle, Sr., 90, died Monday, October 22, 2018, at Hospice Home at High Point. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2018, at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, with Dr. Daniel Dickard and Rev. Steve King officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. Mr. Tuttle was born on September 23, 1928, in Walnut Cove, son of the late Hobart and Ellen Brown Tuttle. Jack graduated in 1949 from Bessemer High School, where he lettered in baseball all four years. He then went into the trucking business from 1949-55. After his son was born, he felt led to get a job in Greensboro with Vick Chemical Company, later purchased by Proctor & Gamble, where he retired in 1991 after 37 years of service. Jack became a Christian in 1954 at Asheboro Street Baptist Church and later became a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. He served his Lord in many capacities in both churches and was a deacon. He loved all jobs he fulfilled and did them well. Jack served many years at the Greater Greensboro Epilepsy, heading up transportation to and from their social gatherings, supported by the members of the Woodman Life Chapter 26. Jack was known for his smile and his willingness to help anyone he knew in need. He loved traveling with Anne and loved fishing and hunting. On April 3, 1953, he married Anne Green and from this marriage came two children and two grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Anne Green Tuttle; a daughter, Robyn Patricia Tuttle Lane; two grandchildren, Jaime Lauren Tuttle, daughter of James L. "Jim," Jr. and Vicki Meetz Tuttle and Jade Erin Tuttle, daughter of James L. "Jim," Jr. and Robin Tuttle; stepgranddaughter, Savannah Carson Lane, daughter of Chris Lane and stepmother, Robyn Lane; grandson dog, Carson Jack Lane "C.J." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James L. "Jim" Tuttle; a sister and her husband, Dorothy Tuttle and Crawford "Woody" Bowling. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday prior to the service in the church sanctuary of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410, Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262 or Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Park Rd., Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
