Jan Garland Lowe

Jan Garland Lowe, 86, of Liberty, went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, after three weeks of decline.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., at Loflin Funeral Home, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty. Jan was the son of the late June Adrian and Elizabeth Shepherd Lowe and was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Cassie Lowe and Jim and Bessie Shepherd; in-laws, June and Gene Kimbrough Patrum; brother, Joe Douglas Lowe; sisters, Shirley L. Teague and Sylvia L. Kirkman; brothers-in-law, Dan P. Teague, Thomas Patrum, Jack Sykes, and Jimmy William; sister-in-law, Dorothy Patrum Sykes; and nephews, Michael Patrum and Frankie Teague; and niece-in-law, Denise Teague. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 63 years, Martha Patrum Lowe; brothers, James Lowe (Barbara) and John E. Lowe; sisters, Sara Williams and Sandra Dixon (Warren); brother-in-law, Ronnie Kirkman; nieces, Linda Sue Teague, Sonya Lowe (Jim Jefferies), Julie Cooper (Jim), Jamie Azevedo (Lino), and Elizabeth Williams; nephews, Blake Lowe (Melanie), Jeff Kirkman, Jason Kirkman, and John Ashley Lowe (Adriana); niece-in-law, June Carol Daniels; nephews-in-law, Steve Sykes (Debbie) and Frank Patrum (Kathryn); great nieces, Amy Moore (Bobby) and Ann Saul (Randy); special adopted daughter, Amy Hill; and many other great-great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care given to Jan over the years by Dr. Maura Hamrick and special care helpers, Rhonda Staley, Kirk and Bridget Odom, JoAnn Martin, Eli and Kathrina Regalado, great-great nephew, Dustin Moore (and family), Amy Hill CMA and the staff of Randolph Hospice. Jan was a farmer all his life, being a part of Lowe Brothers Dairy, which later changed to Jan Lowe Dairy, Inc. in June of 1993. He proudly served in the United States Army and traveled all across the country, including Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga., where he completed his basic training; Fort Ord in Monterrey, Calif.; Fort Lee in Virginia; and Fort Holabird in Baltimore, Md., where he was assigned to the CIA School. As a long time member of First Baptist Church in Liberty, Jan was known for his faithfulness to the Lord. Since childhood, Jan loved playing and watching baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He loved his cats, Scooby Doo, Rusty, and Sunny Sunshine, who were like his children.
