Laws (Bailey), Janis Louise

December 31, 1955 - May 20, 2024

Janis Louise Bailey Laws, affectionately known as Jan, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, at the age of 68 in Guilford County, North Carolina. Jan was born on December 31, 1955, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Jan was a devoted wife and mother, dedicating her life to her family with unwavering love and support. She shared a beautiful marriage of 44 years with her beloved husband, James (Jim) Laws Jr. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Michael Harrison Laws and Jason Christopher Laws.

A true nurturer at heart, Jan was a master gardener whose green thumb brought beauty and life to every corner of her garden. Her passion for the outdoors extended into her role as a dedicated Boy Scout Leader for Troop 316 and Venture Crew, where she inspired and mentored many young minds. Jan's faith was the cornerstone of her life; she was a cherished Sunday School teacher and deeply loved her church and Jesus.

Jan's professional journey started shortly after her Graduation from the University of North Carolina, her journey was diverse and rich, marked by her roles as a high school English Teacher, radio sales representative, and Pitney Bowes employee. Alongside her husband Jim, she embraced entrepreneurship, co-owning Video Review. Her career was distinguished by her enthusiasm and commitment, qualities she carried into all her endeavors.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Edwin Bailey and Mildred Crayton Bailey. She is survived by her loving family: sister Lisa (Chris) Bailey Corbitt, sister Beth Bailey, brother Daniel (Chipp) E. Bailey Jr. (Sharon); and stepmother Kathryn Bailey. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Mount Pisgah Church located at 2600 Pisgah Church Road in Greensboro, NC 27455. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle, Washington, or The Urban Ministry in Greensboro, NC.

Jan's Family would like to thank the team of medical providers that helped her throughout her journey at Atrium Health in Winston Salem, and The High Point Dialysis team.

Jan will always have a place in my heart. Jan was the most sweetest lady I had ever met. She was such a role model of what we all should strive to be like. She was so loving and caring and supportive towards everyone she met. She´s with Jesus now. No doubt a special angel.
