Jerry Lambert Obituary

Jerry Campbell Lambert

February 7, 1940 - April 9, 2025

Jerry Campbell Lambert, age 85, of Greensboro, NC passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at WhiteStone Community under the care of Hospice and with support of the family.

Jerry was born in Greensboro on February 17, 1940, to the late Diffee Hackney and Hazel Campbell Lambert. His beloved brother Diffee Jr predeceased him last September. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and he'll be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jerry happily spent his whole life in North Carolina, graduating from Greensboro High School in 1958 and earning a business degree from Wake Forest University in 1962. He was a proud member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and served his country as a Marine. Jerry worked at Odell Hardware in Greensboro for much of his career and founded Sedgefield Packaging Company in 1990, successfully growing the business before selling it to Stone Container Corp in 1999. Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor, his empathy, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and for his strong work ethic.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jane; daughters, Molly (JP) Hanlon, and Nell (Travis) Wilder; grandchildren, Eleanor, Burke and Greer Hanlon, Hilary and Clay Wilder; nieces, Dianne Sanderson and Karen Campbell and many other friends and extended family members. The family would like to thank Authoracare Hospice of NC and Andrea Harmon and the team at Choice Care Navigators for their loving care and support of Jerry during the last few years.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at First Baptist Church, 1000 W Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends in the Atrium after the service.

In lieu of donations and in memory of Jerry, please make a new friend by buying someone a cup of coffee, a glass of iced tea, or a cold beer. It's what Jerry would do!

I worked with Jerry for a number of years at Odell Hardware Company. I always liked and respected him very much. I have fond memories of many discussions regarding general business, the hardware industry, cars, and Myrtle Beach. I am fortunate to have had Jerry's friendship during these early years of my time in the hardware industry. He will be greatly missed.

Jerry was the younger brother of Diffee with whom I grew up. From time to time I would see Jerry and he was always very pleasant and friendly.
