Julian Reitzel Obituary
A resident of Archdale, North Carolina, Julian retired from NorthState Telephone Co in 1995, after 32 years of service. Julian loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When you spoke to Julian, you quickly learned he was an old soul who loved to win souls for Christ by knocking on your door. Julian loved his family and friends. Julian loved life. He was an outdoorsman, those looking for Julian, knew to find him at the lake, fishing for large mouth bass, or deep in the woods, hunting deer.
Julian was born July 7, 1941 in Greensboro, NC at St. Leo's Hospital, son of the late Obed Reitzel and Mary Garner Reitzel of Randleman, NC. Julian is also preceded in death, by his beloved grandson, Austin Hunter Reitzel, sister, Mary Reitzel Fogleman, brother, Eugene Reitzel and niece, Kathy Nelson Allred.
On February 5, 1960, Julian married his high school sweetheart, Fay Walls of Sophia NC. Their union of 65 years, gifted them; 2 surviving children, Karl Lee Reitzel of Trinity, NC (married to Kathryn Goncharow Reitzel) and Julia Gail Reitzel Barton of Atlanta, GA; 2 cherished granddaughters, Julee Ann Reitzel of Trinity, NC and Lauren Faith Barton of Atlanta, GA. In addition, also living are Julian's older sisters; Winnie Allred of Randleman, NC and Lilly Cole of Franklinville, NC, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, at Balfour Baptist Church in Asheboro with Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to service, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565, or to Balfour Baptist Church at 1642 N. Fayetteville St, Asheboro, NC 27203. Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale is assisting the family. Condolences may be made through www.cumbyfuneral.com.
