Mr Watkins was a dear friend.
I dated his daughter while attending A&T university.
I enjoyed going over to his home and listening to him and the late Reverend Chubbs go back and forth. He treated me like a son. Will me missed, a dear friend and a mentor.
My late condolences

Sincere condolences to Jamesena and the family. Marvin and his wife were friends of my husband Lafayette going back to college days. The friendship lasted over the years. When I met Marvin and his wife we became friends immediately. We enjoyed many homecomings at A & T together. May he rest in peace.

Marvin H. Watkins was a wonderful individual with whom, I was privileged to experience as a professional colleague while employed at NC A&T State University.
The last time we talked was Spring 2024. He sounded so good to hear his voice after many years.
To his family, we express our appreciation for your support while he toiled in the University setting.
Our condolences and prayers for you
remain strong.
Sincerely, Pamela and Pete Hunter

We extend our sincere condolences to the Watkins and Cherry families on the tremendous loss of your patriot, and our dear friend, Marvin. He stood among the giants as a shining example of fortitude, knowledge, strength, guidance and love. He loved his family and everybody knew it; he loved life; he loved NCA&TSU; he loved NSPAA, the organization he and his partner in crime Frank Hamilton nurtured and grew to its current state of prominence; and he loved HBCUs. Few people demonstrate the commitment, dedication and understanding of this nation's HBCUs like Marvin, and we are all the better because of his personal drive and unyielding understanding and voiced expressions of concern for them! They don't make them like Marvin anymore, and I am favored to have known him for over 45 years; yep, blessed and highly favored! God bless the family and thank you for sharing him with so many of us...forever appreciated, forever honored, forever loved!

I want to express my condolences to the Watkins family for the loss of your loved one. Mr. Marvin always came by to see us over here at Bill Black and I use to bring him tomatoes every summer. We use to sit and talk for hours at a time and I always got a kick out of talking to him. He will definitely be missed!

Words cannot express the sorry felt when learing of the loss of Mr. Marvin. What a wealth of knowledge and inspiration no matter how long or how short the encounter. He was always willing to share and even more willing to listen to the plight of others. Just priceless...

I want to thank the Watkins family for sharing such a jewel with people like my family and me. I do not take the relationship lightly. I encourage you all to cherish the pleasant memories and to continue to do all YOU can, while YOU can. For Mr. Marvin believed in constantly learning and sharing, even until the very end. He will surely be missed but never forgotten.

Now, allow God to see you through this time of sadness and transition. HE can and will keep you just as he has in days gone by. Be ye comforted and blessed...

With sincere sympathy and love,

Michael, Michelle and Bria Williams

Watkins Family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Watkins´s passing. I met Mr. Watkins during my time at NCA&T. He was a gentleman who always had a smile and a "well hello" when you saw him.
